Capturing the Early Days with Baby Cooper

In-Home Newborn Photography in Townsville with Marlie and Jo. Photography

There’s nothing quite like those first days at home with your newborn. The quiet moments, the tiny yawns, the way they fit so perfectly into your arms. I had the absolute honour of photographing sweet Baby Cooper during a relaxed in-home newborn session here in Townsville, and I’m so excited to share a little peek into our morning together.

It was such a joy to return to this family’s home and capture their newest little love. I photographed Cooper’s big brother as a newborn too, just a few days old in the very same house. There is something incredibly special about documenting how a family unfolds and grows over time. We spent a quiet morning together, moving gently between the bedroom and living room in soft natural light. Dad and big brother took turns giving baby Cooper sweet kisses, with plenty of tickles to bring out those big smiles. Cooper was calm and content, snuggled up in mum and dad’s arms. As much as I am an absolute lover of all things newborn props and studio styling, there is something so meaningful about in-home sessions. I truly love both. There is a unique magic in keeping things simple and natural. No props, just genuine connection and love. These are the moments I want families to look back on and remember. How tiny your newborn felt in your arms. The sleepy little yawns. The way you gazed at each other in those early days.

Why I Love In-Home Newborn Photography sessions

For Baby Cooper’s session, we photographed in the beautiful natural light of the family’s bedroom and living space. We focused on genuine moments. Snuggles on the bed. Soft kisses on the forehead. Tender glances between mum, dad, and baby. These are the kinds of photos that become treasured memories.

To make the session even more special, we incorporated an heirloom blanket that Cooper’s mum was wrapped in as a baby. I photographed his big brother in it too, keeping the tradition flowing and creating a beautiful connection between generations.

My Approach to Newborn Photography

My newborn photography style is warm, natural, and storytelling. Whether we are in the studio or your home, I guide you softly and gently so the moments unfold organically. During in home sessions, I often include elements like your baby’s nursery, beloved pets, or heirloom blankets. Whatever feels most like your story. I also bring along my bean bag to create stunning natural poses of just bub, along with beautiful family photos. My bean bag, wraps, soft blankets, and a carefully chosen selection of outfits for bub are all available for your session so you do not need to worry about a thing. There was such a gentle, loving energy throughout our time together. It was a beautiful reminder of how meaningful these early days are. The kind of morning that reminds me why I love what I do.

Thinking About Booking a Newborn Session?

If you’re expecting a baby and love the idea of capturing your newborn in the comfort of your home, I would love to photograph this special chapter for you. I offer in-home newborn sessions in Townsville and surrounding areas, and I’m always happy to chat and answer any questions.

Newborn sessions are best held within the first two weeks after birth, when your little one is still so fresh, curled up, and sleepy. I recommend booking ahead to secure a spot around your due date. If your baby is a little older, that’s perfectly fine too. Sessions with older newborns and babies are just as beautiful, filled with sweet expressions and unique little moments to treasure.

Let’s preserve these fleeting moments, so you can remember just how tiny they once were.
